Attached File  Tank.jpg   442.45K   2 downloadsHi all,

Have been keeping my aquarium now for just over a year and 3 months ago upgraded my small tank to a larger Aqua One AR-850 tank. Approx 180L.

I had a lipstick tang, blue tang and 2 oscellaris clowns in the small tank, and a small time after moving them into the larger tank, and also adding a Hawaiian flame angel, the blue tang got sick with what appeared to be white spot or "ich", and subsequently passed it on to all fish and all fish were lost in a matter of 3 days.

I left the tank with only 1 fish for a period of 6 weeks, just a fire gobby. As he was doing well, and all the information I found said that the "ich" should be cleared after 4 weeks with water changes, I added a Powder Black Tang a week and a half ago. Within a few days I noticed he showed some white spots again, but they appeared to clear a few days later. Unfortunately after a few days away, I came back and noticed he was again covered, and last night began to shed a white substance around his gill area. Unfortunately this morning he was also another casualty in my aquarium of death!

Any ideas guys on what I need to do to my tank to rid this continual problem? I use Vertonex occasionally, I feed my coral with Reef Plus and Aquasonics Seafood once a week.

I might be a bit late with this but I'll say it anyway, in my experience with ich I found the best thing to do was add garlic to the fish food and a uv filter. My blue tang had ich and it was a pretty serious case fortunately none of my other fish contracted it, but after adding garlic to the food and putting in a uv filter the ich was gone within a couple of days.

Just remember ich can lay dormant in a tank for a while without an outbreak so you will need to make sure your fish are healthy and all water levels are spot on.

Hope this helps.
